The Sound Hunt
Une chasse aux objets qui commencent par un son, sans rien à préparer.
Step by step
- Pick a long, easy sound to start with (ssss, mmmm, ffff).
- Kick off the hunt: "I'm looking around the room for something that starts with sss...".
- Search together: scan the room, walk around, wonder out loud.
- Check the sound, not the letter: "ssss-oap... yes! We hear sss at the start!".
- Switch roles: your child picks a sound and you search—make silly mistakes on purpose so they can happily correct you.
- Level it up over time: try trickier sounds, clap out syllables, or play with simple rhyming words.
What it builds
Hearing that "soap" begins with sss is the biggest boost for learning to read down the road. Here, they practice right in the living room, with no worksheets or formal lessons—just tuning their ears while having fun.
