Finish the Pattern Strips
Une suite de couleurs commencée, à continuer, puis à inventer pour piéger l'adulte.
Step by step
- Print the pattern strips (AB, AAB, ABC) and cut out the colored tokens.
- Point and say the start together ("red, blue, red, blue...").
- Ask "what comes next?" and let them place the matching token.
- Let them keep the pattern going as long as they want.
- Swap roles: your child invents their OWN rule, you guess and complete it, making a few mistakes so they can correct you.
- Move beyond paper: recreate patterns with sounds (clap-snap) and dance moves.
What it builds
Guessing what comes after red-blue-red-blue means discovering there is a hidden rule waiting to be solved. Spotting patterns is a core math skill, learned right here, token by token.
