The Treasure Basket
Un panier d'objets vrais de la maison, dans lequel bébé pioche à sa guise.
Step by step
- Fill a shallow basket with 12 to 15 safe, natural everyday objects (wooden spoon, metal ring, clean sponge, soft brush, scrap of fabric).
- Check every item: nothing sharp, too small, or detachable, because everything will go straight into their mouth.
- Place the basket right in front of your baby once they are sitting securely, during a calm moment with no other toys in sight.
- Sit nearby, present but quiet: don't hand them items or name things while they explore. Silence is what protects their deep focus.
- Let it play out: your baby chooses, compares, sucks, and taps. The session can easily last 20 to 30 minutes.
- Wash the items afterward, and swap out 3 or 4 of them regularly to spark fresh curiosity.
What it builds
Handling real objects with different weights, textures, and temperatures allows your baby to explore through all their senses. It is one of the rare activities where babies stay focused for twenty minutes straight—better than any battery-powered toy.
