My illustrated no-cook recipe

Une recette sans cuisson en images, que l'enfant mène de bout en bout.

Step by step

  1. Pick the recipe together from 2 or 3 picture cards (fruit salad, funny face sandwiches).
  2. Set up the kitchen: stick the card at eye level, put ingredients within reach, and stand by as a "silent assistant" ready to help only if asked.
  3. Read the card: let your child describe each pictured step before getting started.
  4. Let them do it all from start to finish: grab ingredients, measure, cut, mix, and plate. Only step in if they ask, or for safety.
  5. Serve with pride: your child presents THEIR dish to the family for everyone to taste and enjoy.
  6. Tidy up together: cleaning is part of the recipe; slip the card into THEIR chef binder.

What it builds

Following a picture recipe all by themselves from start to finish is already real reading: reading to do. And serving a dish made entirely with their own hands gives kids a huge boost of pride and lasting independence.
