My "I Can Do It Myself" Chart

Un tableau du quotidien, où l'enfant colle une étoile sur ce qu'il sait déjà faire.

Step by step

  1. Print the illustrated skills chart and pick 8 to 10 everyday tasks together.
  2. Take stock: your child checks off or sticks a star on what they ALREADY can do; always start with their strengths.
  3. Let them pick their next goal: just one at a time.
  4. Practice every day: create opportunities to try without stepping in to do it for them.
  5. Once it's mastered, your child ticks it off themselves: they get to decide when they know how to do it.
  6. Review each month: look back at all their progress ("look at everything you've learned!") and pick the next challenge.

What it builds

On this chart, your child checks the boxes, not the grown-up: they learn to judge their own skills and pick their own goals. Growing up becomes visible, star by star, and the motivation comes from inside, not from a reward.
