My One-Sheet Mini Book

Step by step

1. 1Fold and snip the A4 sheet following the guide: watch a real 8-page book appear.
2. 2Brainstorm the plot with two simple questions: "Who is it about? What happens?"
3. 3Draw one scene per page, in order; save the cover for the very end.
4. 4Write down what your child dictates under each picture (or let them scribble-write their own way), without fixing their grammar.
5. 5Make it official: add a title and the AUTHOR's name on the front cover.
6. 6Publish it: do a grand reading for the family tonight, pop it on the bookshelf, and start planning volume two!

What it builds

Making, writing, and reading a book out loud lets your child step behind the scenes: they realize books are made by real people—and that person can be them. There is no better way to spark a love of reading.
