Color Houses

Des feuilles de couleur au sol, et des cartes-objets à ramener dans leur maison.

Step by step

  1. Print out 3 or 4 solid colored sheets (the red, blue, and yellow "houses") and the colored picture cards.
  2. Spread the houses across the floor or table, and shuffle the cards into a pile.
  3. Draw a card, name it ("the red strawberry!"), and carry it to its house to show how it's done.
  4. Let your child draw and sort cards one by one, naming each one. If a card ends up in the wrong house, wait until the final check to fix it together.
  5. Inspect each house together at the end ("Is everyone red in here?") and fix any mix-ups.
  6. Level it up: start with 2 colors, move to 4 or 5, then try tricky shades (pink vs. red) or sort by shapes using the exact same rule.

What it builds

Sorting means grouping things that belong together: the very first way little brains organize the world. By taking each card to its matching house, your child practices classifying—the foundation for all future learning.
