The Little Kitchen Helper
Un vrai poste en cuisine, où l'enfant lave, coupe et tartine pour le repas.
Step by step
- Set up the station: stepping stool, apron, chopping board, kid-safe knife, and easy-to-prep ingredients right within reach.
- Crown your sous-chef of the day: having an official job brings instant pride.
- Hand over a real task: wash the salad, slice a banana, spread butter, squeeze an orange.
- Show the movement once, in slow motion, then let them do it without stepping in to correct.
- Stay nearby and calmly remind them of the rules (the knife stays on the board), without hovering over every move.
- Announce it at the table: "The salad was made by our chef today!" Make sure their effort is seen and celebrated.
What it builds
Slicing a real banana for a real dessert isn't pretend play: it is genuinely helping out. These precise, practical movements build hand coordination and a feeling no toy can match: feeling truly useful.
