The Mealtime Matching Placemat
Un set de table où chaque objet a son ombre dessinée, à poser et à ranger.
Step by step
- Print the placemat with real-size outlines (plate, cup, spoon).
- Before the meal, put the placemat at your toddler's spot and name each drawn "home".
- Guide them once ("the cup goes on its drawing"), then let them place it themselves.
- During the meal, encourage them to put the cup back "in its home" after each sip, without stressing about it.
- At the end of the meal, invite them to put each item back in its spot before leaving the table.
- Start with just the cup, then add the other spots week after week.
What it builds
Putting THEIR cup on THEIR drawing is a huge step toward independence at 12–18 months: your child takes an active part in the meal instead of just sitting through it. Having a clear spot brings comforting order, and clearing up turns into a game rather than a chore.
