Freeze Tag and Its Variations

Le loup glacé, avec les règles discutées et ajustées par les enfants eux-mêmes.

Step by step

  1. Set boundaries together for the play area and pick a safe zone if needed.
  2. Explain the basic rule: if the tagger touches you, freeze like a statue; a friend unfreezes you by crawling under your arms.
  3. Check for understanding: have each child explain one rule in their own words before jumping in.
  4. Start the game: keep a gentle eye on things and switch taggers every 3 to 4 minutes. If a little one is hesitant to be 'it', don't force it—pairing them up with an older kid works wonders.
  5. Take quick rule breaks: chat and adjust anything that isn't working (play area too big? unfreezing too tricky?).
  6. Wind down with a calm moment (slow walking, deep breaths), and vote on a fun new twist for next time.

What it builds

Running around, yes, but helping each other out: in freeze tag, you rescue your friends and they rescue you. Kids burn off tons of energy while discovering that games only work when everyone plays fair—and that rules can be changed together.
