Ground-Level Balance Beam
Une planche posée au sol, à traverser en avant, en arrière, de côté, sans tomber.
Step by step
- Lay a sturdy board flat on the floor (or make a line with paper strips, or find a low fallen log at the park).
- Clear the area around it. Go barefoot or wear flexible shoes.
- Walk across once to demonstrate: arms out for balance, looking straight ahead.
- Let your child cross at their own pace for a few rounds, standing close by without automatically holding their hand. Stepping off is not a fall: just step back on and keep going.
- Mix it up: try backwards, sideways, carrying an object, or balancing a beanbag on your head.
- Take turns inventing custom challenges for each other, and finish on a successful run.
What it builds
Walking along a narrow line takes real balance and full focus. Right at ground level, your child can experiment, wobble, step off, and try again without getting hurt—building confidence right alongside ankle strength.
