Peekaboo Flap Card

Une carte à volet qu'on soulève pour un « coucou ! », et que bébé finit par ouvrir seul.

Step by step

  1. Fold a sheet of paper to create a lift-up flap and place a bold picture underneath (a face or an animal).
  2. Sit down with baby and place the card in front of them with the flap closed.
  3. Use a curious voice to ask, "Where is the cat?" while gently tapping the flap.
  4. Slowly lift the flap ("PEEKABOO!") and enjoy their reaction.
  5. Guide baby's fingers to the flap and let them open and close it as many times as they like. If they rip it off in pure excitement, you can fold a new one in thirty seconds.
  6. Make a few more surprise cards with different hidden pictures.

What it builds

At this age, babies are discovering that things still exist even when hidden—which helps them stay calm when you leave the room. With this flap, THEY are the ones making the picture appear and disappear, exploring this big discovery with their own hands.
