Giant Side-by-Side Mural

Step by step

1. 1Print and tape the giant coloring sheets together (several A4 sheets taped on the back).
2. 2Tape it to the floor or low on the wall, with chunky wax crayons ready to go.
3. 3Let everyone pick a picture or an area, with no set plan.
4. 4Color along with them, right by their side, without worrying about staying inside the lines.
5. 5Point out where your colors meet ("Look, your blue is touching my yellow!") to celebrate making something together.
6. 6Hang the mural at child height and come back to it over the next few days if it's not finished.

What it builds

Coloring on a big scale works the whole arm, shoulder, and elbow—these big movements build the foundation for smaller, precise hand skills later on. Plus, drawing on the same giant page shows them the joy of creating together instead of just playing side by side.
