Dice and Counter Games
Un dé, des jetons, et exactement autant de jetons que de points à chaque lancer.
Step by step
- Set out a die, a bowl of counters (or dried beans), and a cup for each player.
- Explain the rule: roll the die, check the dots, and grab EXACTLY that many counters.
- Demonstrate once: roll, point to each dot as you count, then pick up the counters one by one out loud.
- Take turns playing; let your child count on their own and only step in if they ask for help.
- Recount together if there's any doubt, keeping things relaxed and pressure-free.
- Mix it up: race to 15 counters, play cooperatively by filling a big jar before the sand timer runs out, or switch to a numbered die.
What it builds
Picking up three counters because the die shows three dots connects the visual number with a physical amount. Handling real objects gives meaning to 'three' far better than simply reciting numbers.
