Build the Butterfly Life Cycle
Les quatre étapes de la vie du papillon, à remettre dans l'ordre puis en cercle.
Step by step
- Print and cut out the life cycle cards (egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly).
- Look at each card together and introduce the exact words (chrysalis!) without dumbing them down.
- Let your child put the stages in order, guiding them with simple questions ("What does the caterpillar turn into next?").
- Arrange the cards in a CIRCLE: the butterfly lays an egg, and it all starts over again.
- Listen to your child tell the whole story in their own words, using the cards as clues.
- Take it outside: hunt for caterpillars in the garden or tadpoles in a spring pond, then try sorting out other mixed-up life cycles (like frogs or plants).
What it builds
An egg becomes a caterpillar, a caterpillar becomes a chrysalis, and a chrysalis becomes a butterfly—never the reverse. It's the big concept of living things growing and transforming, made simple for little ones. Bonus: learning cool, grown-up science words before anyone else!
