Pour and Scoop Sensory Bin
Un grand bac de riz avec bols et entonnoir, où l'on remplit, vide et retrouve.
Step by step
- Fill a large plastic bin with dry rice or chunky pasta and place it on a spread-out bedsheet: spills are expected, not a problem.
- Set up the tools: add bowls, a funnel, spoons, and small cups.
- Let them dig right in: scoop, bury hands, make it rain, no instructions needed. Stay close—raw rice is tempting to taste, so just keep an eye out.
- Add a twist: bury small toys to discover, and encourage filling and dumping the containers.
- Name what's happening: 'full', 'empty', 'more', 'all gone'. Kids learn math concepts through their hands first.
- Wrap up together: lift the sheet and funnel everything right back into the bin (pure magic!), pop the lid on, and save it for next time.
What it builds
Filling, emptying, burying, pouring: by repeating these simple moves, little hands discover full and empty, lots and none. Kids understand quantities through touch long before they learn numbers—and this sensory bin is the best way to explore them.
